Luzes de pesca LED subaquáticas: Complete Buyer Guide
Comlite manufactures underwater LED fishing lights from 8W to 5000W for freshwater and saltwater use. Our range covers 12V/24V DC submersible lights for boats, kayaks and portable battery packs, 110V-240V AC lights for docks and fish farms, and high-output deep sea units built for commercial fleets.
This page explains how underwater fishing lights actually attract fish, which LED colour suits which species, and how to specify voltage, wattage and depth rating before you request a quote. If you already know what you need, go straight to our12V/24V range or deep sea range.
What Is an Underwater LED Fishing Light?
An underwater LED fishing light is a fully submersible luminaire designed to be lowered into the water and left running for hours at a time. Unlike a deck light or a flood light mounted above the waterline, a submersible fishing light creates an illuminated columnbelowthe surface. That column is what pulls in plankton, then baitfish, and eventually the predator fish you are targeting.
450W 12V/24V underwater LED fishing light with stainless steel housing
A typical Comlite unit combines a sealed LED array, a corrosion-resistant housing, a reinforced cable entry and — on higher-power models — a stainless steel protective cage. Because the light never leaves the water during operation, sealing is the single most important design decision in the product. We build to IP68 across the range and pressure-test every deep sea model before shipment. Tell us your working depth and we will send the test conditions together with your quotation.
Submersible vs Surface-Mounted Fishing Lights
Submersible lights go into the water and build the food chain from below. Surface-mounted or onboard lights sit above the waterline and spread light across the surface. They solve different problems.
A submersible light is a fish attractor. An onboard light is a work light that lets you see your deck, your lines and your catch. Serious night operations usually run both — one to bring fish in, one to land them. You can see our above-water range on theOnboard & Dock Fishing Lights page.
How Underwater Fishing Lights Attract Fish
Underwater lights do not attract game fish directly. They start a chain reaction:
Within roughly15-30 minutos, zooplankton and phytoplankton migrate into the lit zone.
Within30-60 minutos, baitfish arrive to feed on the plankton.
Within1-3 Horasin healthy freshwater, predator species follow the baitfish. In saltwater the chain moves more slowly — allow 2-4 hours before larger fish appear.
Water temperature matters. Below about 10°C (50°F) the entire chain slows significantly, so cold-water and ice fishing sessions need more patience and a longer runtime.
Two practical consequences follow from this. Primeiro, light first, fish later— give the light time to work before you start casting. Segundo, run time beats peak brightness. A moderate light running for six hours will usually out-fish a very bright light running for ninety minutes.
A Note on Running Lights in Air
Submersible fishing lights use the surrounding water as a heat sink. Most will overheat within 30-60 seconds if switched on in open air, which can crack the potting compound or damage the LEDs. Always submerge the light fully before connecting power, and let it cool in the water before you haul it back aboard.
LED Colour Guide: Verde, Azul, White and Warm White
LED colour is not a cosmetic choice. Different wavelengths penetrate water differently, and different species respond to different parts of the spectrum.
Colour
Comprimento de onda
Penetrates best in
Best for
Verde
520-560 nm
Freshwater, inshore estuaries
Crappie, bass, redfish, snook, trout — general purpose
Azul
450-495 nm
Clear offshore saltwater
Squid, mackerel, deep-water snapper
Branco
Broad spectrum
Murky water, general visibility
All-round visibility; more surface glare
Warm white / amarelo
570-590 nm
Shallow water, occupied areas
Fewer flying insects; softer light for docks and patios
Verdepenetrates freshwater further than any other visible wavelength and matches the bioluminescence that triggers a plankton feeding response. It is the safest all-round choice for freshwater and inshore saltwater.
Azultravels furthest through clear offshore saltwater and mimics deep-ocean bioluminescence. It is the preferred colour for squid and deep-water species.
Brancogives the highest perceived brightness and works well in murky water, but it creates more surface glare and can spook shallow, skittish fish.
If you are not sure which colour to specify, our Dual Colour & RGB Fishing Lights let you switch colour on the water instead of committing to one before you know your conditions.
How to Choose: Tensão, Wattage and Depth Rating
Voltage — 12V/24V DC or 110V-240V AC
If the light will run from a battery on a boat, a kayak or a portable pack, you need12V or 24V DC. Our DC range runs from 8W portable units up to 800W mid-power lights.
20W to 60W self-sinking underwater LED fishing light on a battery pack
If you have shore power, a generator or a fixed installation at a dock, a fish farm or a fish cage, 110V-240V AClets you run far higher output. Our AC range covers 600W to 5000W.
As a rough sizing rule: a 20W light draws about 1.7A at 12V, while a 120W light draws about 10A. A 100Ah deep-cycle battery will run a 20W light for roughly 48 hours but a 120W light for only about 8 Horas. Match the light to the battery you already own, not the one you plan to buy.
Wattage
8-60W— portable, battery-powered lights for kayaks, small boats, ice fishing and bank fishing. See Portable & Battery-Powered Fishing Lights.
90-800W— mid-power 12V/24V lights for dock lighting, larger boats and inshore night fishing.
600W-5000W— high-output AC lights for deep sea fishing, commercial vessels, fish farms and large cages. See Deep Drop & Deep Sea Fishing Lights.
Depth Rating and Ingress Protection
Continuous submersion requiresIP68— not IP65 or IP67. IP65 and IP67 cover water jets, splashes and temporary immersion. They do not cover a light left at depth all night.
Beyond the IP code, ask two questions of any supplier. What depth is the light rated for, and is that a test result or a marketing number? And does the rating hold at temperature, in saltwater, and after repeated pressure cycles? Our deep sea range uses 316L stainless steel housings and is pressure-tested before shipment; we will share the test method and conditions on request. Always specify a rating comfortably above your maximum working depth.
Housing and Cable
Saltwater destroys aluminium and standard steel quickly. For permanent or semi-permanent saltwater use, specify 316L stainless steel or a marine-grade polymer housing, and check that the cable entry is a moulded gland rather than a simple grommet. Cable length is our most common customisation request — tell us the length you need and we will build to it.

Dock and Pier Lighting
A fixed underwater light turns a dock into a reliable night fishing spot. Most dock owners choose a 12V/24V green light in the 20-60W range for seasonal use, or an AC unit where mains power is available. Because the light stays in one place, corrosion resistance and cable quality matter more than raw output.
1600W 110-265V AC onboard LED fishing light mounted on a boat deck
Boat and Kayak Night Fishing
On a boat with a house battery, a 12V light between 60W and 450W is the usual choice. Kayak and small-boat anglers are better served by a compact 8-20W unit on a small lithium pack, where portability matters more than coverage.
Fish Farm and Aquaculture
Beyond attracting wild fish, underwater lights are used in cages and ponds to concentrate stock for feeding and harvesting, and to support algae growth. Because these lights run for long hours every night, the priority shifts from peak brightness to energy efficiency, thermal management and serviceability. Comlite supplies fish farm and aquaculture lighting for pond, cage and hatchery installations.
Deep Sea and Commercial Fishing
Commercial operators need output, depth rating and repeatability. Our 600W-5000W AC units are built for deep drop work, longline sets and large cages, with dimming available on selected models so crews can manage generator load. Talk to us about fleet pricing.
Depth-tested, not depth-claimed.Every deep sea unit is pressure-tested before shipment, and we will share the test conditions rather than a bare number.

Perguntas Frequentes
What colour LED light attracts the most fish?
Verde (520-560 nm) is the most effective all-round choice. It penetrates freshwater further than other wavelengths and triggers the plankton bloom that starts the food chain. For squid and deep-water species in clear saltwater, azul (450-495 nm) usually performs better.
Can I run an underwater fishing light out of the water?
Não. Submersible fishing lights rely on water for cooling and can overheat within 30-60 seconds in open air, which can crack the sealing compound or damage the LEDs. Always submerge the light fully before connecting power.
How long does it take for an underwater light to attract fish?
In healthy freshwater, plankton gathers within 15-30 minutos, baitfish follow within 30-60 minutos, and predator species typically arrive within 1-3 Horas. Saltwater is slower — allow 2-4 Horas. Water below 10°C (50°F) slows the whole chain.
Do I need 12V or 220V?
If you are running from a boat battery or portable pack, choose 12V or 24V DC. Se tiveres energia elétrica num cais, fish farm or fixed installation, choose 110V-240V AC — it supports much higher output.
How deep should I submerge the light?
It depends on water clarity. Around 1-3 metres works in clear water; in murky or tannic water, keep the light shallower so the beam can spread. Always choose a light with a depth rating well above the depth you actually fish.
Do you support OEM and private labelling?
Sim. We provide OEM and ODM services including custom LED colours, potência, cable length, housing material, logo printing and retail packaging. Minimum order quantity and lead time depend on wattage, housing material and customisation — send us your specification and we will quote firm numbers.
