An underwater spot light does the opposite of a pool wall light: instead of washing the whole pool, it throws a controlled beam at one thing — a fountain jet, a statue, a planted pocket or a section of feature wall. Comlite’s range runs from 1W mini spots to 24W high-power fittings, in single colour and RGB, all rated IP68 for continuous submersion.

Because the beam is narrow, aiming matters more than output. A spot light mounted at the base of a jet and aimed straight up turns the water column into the light source itself; the same fitting aimed across a basin does very little. Decide what you are lighting before you choose wattage.

Choosing an Underwater Spot Light

  • Start with the beam angle. Narrow beams (10-25°) pick out jets and vertical features; wider beams (40-60°) suit planted areas and shallow basins.
  • Size the output to the throw distance. 1-3W for small bowls and aquariums, 6-12W for garden fountains, 18-24W for tall jets and large municipal features.
  • Use RGB where the water moves. Colour changing works best on moving water — the jet carries the colour. Static basins usually look better in a single white.
  • Hide the fitting. Spots work best mounted below the waterline and out of direct sight, so the effect is visible but the source is not.
