Recessed underwater lights sit flush with the pool wall or fountain basin, so nothing protrudes into the water and the fitting cannot be knocked or caught by swimmers and cleaning equipment. Comlite builds this range in 316L stainless steel with a fully potted IP68 seal, from 1W mini fittings to 24W high-power units in round and square formats.

The trade-off is installation. A recessed light needs a niche or housing built into the pool structure, which makes it the right choice for new builds and major refurbishment. If the pool is already finished and you cannot break into the wall, a surface mounted fitting is the practical alternative — see our full underwater lighting range for both formats.

Choosing a Recessed Underwater Light

  • Plan the niche first. The housing has to be positioned before the pool shell is finished. Cable conduit and the water level relative to the fitting both have to be right the first time.
  • Match the power to the pool. 6-12W suits a standard residential pool wall; 18-24W suits tall fountain basins and large municipal pools.
  • Specify 316L for saltwater. Chloride-rich water pits lower grades of stainless steel. Saltwater pools, seawater features and hot springs all need 316 or 316L.
  • Decide the control. Single colour for straightforward pool lighting, RGB or RGBW when the water feature changes colour.
